I have two rather amazing neices, Elizabeth & Jacqueline. Being an aunt is awesome because you can maintain an air of mystery and excitement. Jacquie recently asked me why I am always “so fancy”. I told her that when you are a big girl you can play dress up every day.
So, speaking of dressing up, my hope is that I am not the first to tell you about Lauren Alexandra in Briarcliff or Brookside. The clothing is a wonderfully sugar-coated fantasy. My deam is that when I am 80, I will officially have permission to be a little girl again. I may stock up on some items from Lauren Alexandra so I will be ready…who knows, I may start regressing in my 70s. Be sure to swing by the next time you have a Mommy/Daughter Style Day
People often ask me if the colours that look best on them change as they get older. The truth is our best colours are always our best colours. I have done Colour Analysis on cute four year olds to sassy eighty year olds. I love discovering the colours with little girls because they really become excited to know their special colours. The earlier a young girl realizes what makes her uniquely lovely, the less likely she is to battle with self-image issues as she goes into her teens.

Last week, I had the privilege of volunteering at KU Med Center to pamper women who were battling cancer. Tina Harold, a dynamic survivor, organized the event and is a fabulous resource for any woman who is dealing with treatment related hair loss. Her company Wigged Out makes every girl want to sit down and try on the amazing styles available.
I recently lost a lovely lady and client to cancer. In honor of Phyllis, I would love to offer all the ladies taking on the formidable challenge of cancer a prescription for Style Therapy. Just let me know where you will have treatment, and I will come by with my magic make-up brushes to add some extra lovely into your day. Please pass along word of this complimentary service.

In my work, I find it impossible to separate a woman’s feelings about her body and her willingness to choose clothing that draws positive attention. Do find that when you look in the mirror that you see flaws firsts and flattering features are few and far between? You are lovely…I genuinely mean that. I know I haven’t seen you, but I have seen a lot of ladies. The greatest obstacle is that so many women – and I was one of them for 25 years – fail to claim their beauty. It is like going to cash in your chips at a casino. You may have won the jackpot but until you choose to redeem the reward, your wealth will be of no benefit to you or anyone else. Ladies, we are finishing the second month of 2010. Are you doing life with style or is this year as colourless as the last? The world will be less if you don’t fully show up.
Twenty women are invited to join me for a Style & Body Detox. You will be able to purge unflattering fashion and unhealthy habits. Come for an evening of pampering and information on February 25th (6 – 7:30) for South Kansas City or March 4 (6 – 7:30) for North Kansas City. Space limited, reservations recommended.

Funny that a pair of really nice shoes make us feel good in our heads - at the extreme opposite end of our bodies. Levende Waters
I had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening of J. Hathaway Shoe Boutique this past Saturday. This is Jill Hathaway’s second shoe sanctuary in Kansas City, and I am among the many grateful gals to have a local haven for heavenly heels. As you can see by the photo I snapped, there is more than one reason to find your way to her stylish boutique. The shoes she carries are a fabulous blend of modern, classic and retro styles with moments of romance and whimsy. In the true style of the boutiques of New York, London, and Paris, the shoes are an ever-changing parade of fantastic, eye-catching footwear.
I hope you are able to go and see Jill and the flirty flats and stunning stilettos lining the walls to greet you. As an added incentive, there is a charity food drive happening from January 18 – 30. Donate 12 cans of food and receive 20% off OR donate 24 cans of food and receive 30% off…because feeding our friends is good for the sole.
