"On the subject of dress almost no one, for one or another reason, feels truly indifferent: if their own clothes do not concern them, somebody else's do." Elizabeth Bowen
Public Speaking
The topic of image, impressions, and looking good is one of great interest to people at all stages of life. There is great power and freedom in being informed. I design engaging and empowering talks which target how image is relevant to my audience. From homes to convention centers, I present the truths regarding the affect of how we perceive ourselves and how we are perceived by others. Conversations continue long after I have said my last word. So for your next girl’s night, charity event, fashion show, boutique event or teen get-together, I would love to help make it a memorable night for everyone. Give me a call and we can discuss the details!
Professional Development Seminars
My objective, when working with professionals, is to empower them to present themselves as a person of authority and substance. In a work environment, it is vital to dress in a way that communicates intelligence and competence. The nuances between professional and casual dress have become increasingly blurred. It is vital to know the differences between the two situations. Your employees have to be seen as professionals within a range of situations and differing clientele. Within a professional environment, it is important to dress appropriately for the context of your work and the people with whom you will engage.
Dressing for Authority
When you speak, you want your words to have weight and impact. The way you dress is the volume button on your ideas and contributions, and depending on your choices, you can easily spend the entire day on mute. Authority is not about controlling others but being perceived as deserving and capable of responsibility for tasks and people. This is key topic for people in leadership positions as well as those who are set up to deal directly with your clients.
Language of Clothes
Each article of clothing is a word. When you get dressed, you have said a statement about yourself. These subliminal messages are steeped in history and culture. It is vital to understand why we reach certain conclusions about people we have only seen in line at the grocery store or in a doctor’s waiting room. Your client’s opinion of your company, your product and your service will be influenced by their opinion of your employees. I encourage business owners to decide how they want their organization to be perceived, and I will teach the members of their team to use clothes as a vehicle to communicate that message.
Unspoken Rules of Dress
There are rules to dress. When they are broken, a person is in jeopardy of being caught and penalized. Knowing these rules empowers you and your employees to never unknowingly or unintentionally offend someone. Being able to speak with your clothes is a key element to a positive first and lasting impression.
